CEREAL BOX NEW JERSEY

A fourth grade project for New Jersey study
 
  

·        Students will research the history, geography, government and industries of New Jersey
·        Students will decorate a real cereal box with illustrations
     and information related to the research using the directions below. 
·        Students will do the research and design each section in the Computer Lab.

 Materials:
·        Empty cereal box
·        White paper
·        Glue

 Directions for completing cereal box:
·        Glue pieces of white paper on the front, back, top, and sides of your cereal box.
     This will hide the information already there.
·        Do the actual typing in the Lab.
·        Paper will be formatted to fit the box
·        When finished with typing, edit, proofread, print
·        Cut the paper to size and glue it on the box

Cereal Box Components:
        FRONT OF BOX:  Geography of NJ

o       Include a map of New Jersey

o       Include some information  on:
*location in United States
*state capitol
*major cities
*counties
*landforms
 

RIGHT SIDE OF BOX: Government of NJ

o       Include some information on:

*State constitution
*Governor
*Executive Branch
*Legislative Branch
*Judicial Branch

LEFT SIDE OF BOX: Industries of NJ

o       Include some information on:

*Crops
*Natural Resources
*Tourism


 BACK OF BOX: Historic NJ or NJ Historic Site

o       You may choose a historic site and answer the 5W’s
 (who, what, when, where and why) about it:
        OR 

o       You may research the Lenni Lenape Indians of NJ and include the following information about them:
*How they got to NJ
*Where they lived in NJ
*Lenape houses
*Lenape farming
*Lenape fishing and hunting
